To Access the Wires-X Network on a Yaesu FT991A
First let's set up your radio for Wires-X Network access. On our Repeater system we use DG-ID of "1" to operate Wires-X Network. There are 2 different ways to do this. One way is to set the DG-ID to TX-1 as we showed you to connect to different repeaters together. This radio has a trick built into the software to do that automatically. Follow the menu options to set the radio up to do this automatically.
Quickly press down on the MENU/SETUP Button and you will see the SETUP MENU.
Using the "MULTI" function knob to the lower right of the screen select menu item 153 "WIRES DG-ID" Use the "SELECT" screen button to select this menu item.
Using the "MULTI" function knob change the DG-ID from "Auto" to "01". Hit the "ENTER" screen button to save the entry and the "BACK" screen button to go back to the main screen.
Now that your radio is set up to use Wires-X through our repeaters, Let's do it!
Quickly press down on the "F M-LIST" button on the upper right to the screen.
Now select the "X" screen button on the list of menu items. If you do not see it use the "BACK" or "FWD" screen arrow buttons till you see the "X" screen button.

HEY! It says we are connected....

See the different display? Just like that you are in Wires-X mode! See towards upper left of the display the little Wires-X icon? You see just above the Screen Menu buttons? This tells you what room you are in.
If you hit the "BACK" screen button you will exit the Wires-X mode. Give it a try, go back and forth.
Now that we are in Wires-X lets enter a Room by ID # .
Now select the "Search&Direct" screen button.
Now select the "ID" screen button.
You should see this screen now.
Using the screen number buttons, enter the room number.  Once you have the numbers entered in you hit the "ENT" screen button to make it happen.

Let's enter 21636 for the Texas-Nexus room.
HEY! It says we are connected....
AGAIN!

After a couple of seconds you will see this Screen showing "TEXAS-NEXUS" as the room you are in. When someone talks in the room you will hear it. And when YOU transmit on your radio and talk the people in the room will hear you.
To disconnect from the room push the "DISCNCT" screen button, it will disconnect you. Please disconnect from a room when you are done using it.
It says we are disconnected....

Here is another way to get to a room using a name instead of a room number. This way will use the screen.
Select the "Search & Direct" on the screen.
You will see the enter the ID number screen if the last time you used this you entered a room ID number. So select the "Direct" on the screen. You can toggle between the ID number Screen and the Alpha name screen using the "DIRECT" and "ID" screen buttons.
Using the different screen buttons type out "TEXAS" then hit "ENT" screen button.
This will send a query to the Repeater asking about all the Rooms with the word "TEXAS" in it. On the screen scroll down with the "MULTI" function knob to the one you want use, then press in the "SELECT" screen button with your finger.
